Viral Marketing
Viral marketing is complex method of marketing consisting of multiple initiatives, a constant “watch” over your customers, and communication with your customer. The idea of viral marketing could be simplified in three basic parts:
- Creating a product or message in a “good context/environment”.
- This essentially means you should sell umbrellas in a summer storm and snow scrapers in a blizzard. There has to be significant amount of “pull” for your product.
- You “infect” an initial number (the higher the better) of customers with your product/service/idea/ or message.
- This means that you have to find a way to initiate the first message about your product. But it has to be massive (yet below the line). In the world of the internet, this would be posting on some famous forum, or portal of some sort.
- You create "high stickiness" of your message (receiver of the message has to be somehow forced to keep the message, remember it and forward it further).
- This can be achieved, for example (the simplest method), by offering your user a discount for referrals.
Of course, ideas on executing each of these three points depend on the industry, market etc. – and need to be custom designed, and are much more complex then described above. We can assist you in developing the right plan for your business. Give us a call: 215.255.6955 or email ptawadros@xercel.com
Other names for Viral Marketing are: “permission marketing”, “word of mouth marketing” etc.
We will address each of these 3 points in the coming blogs.
